What to bring to your appointment

Please note that you should NOT wear contact lenses for 5 days leading up to your appointment (soft CL’s), and 7 days for hard contact lenses.

Contact lenses cause corneal warpage and can give inaccurate results when measuring the eyes. Bring all contact lenses, glasses and a list of regular medications.

Length of appointment

The appointment usually lasts 1-2 hours. Your pupils maybe dilated so ideally bring a driver to the appointment.

Who will I see at my appointment?

You will initially be seen by one of highly skilled Orthoptists who will measure your eyes and do the appropriate scans and tests before seeing Dr Anton Van Heerden.

If you are having an assessment to see if you are suitable to have Eye Laser Surgery (including LASIK, PRK, SMILE), then your appointment will be with one of our highly trained Refractive Surgery Optometrists who will measure your eyes and determine if you are suitable to have eye laser surgery. They will also advise you which surgical procedure will be best suited for you.
